I implemented Sage 50 Accounts for a SME (Small to Medium Business Enterprise). I initially found limitations with the Sage software in the area of products & services where it wasn’t possible to include additional product information such as packaging. Having taught myself how to use Sage Report Designer I discovered the Sage ‘Expression Manager’ tool. Expressions is Sage terminology for a logical calculation. So I used ‘Expressions’ to fill in the gaps allowing us to add packaging information to products, use euros or pounds sterling depending on the supplier, and to calculate the number of pallets being shipped. These are just a few that we now have embedded into our layouts.
I have found Sage to be a very good business software solution allowing a company to manage its products and services, stock levels, purchase and sales orders and invoicing feeding into a full accounts package.
