Search Engine Optimisation or SEO
Description
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is the process to link your website to the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. I first involved myself with SEO in 2001 and my first public speaking event on the subject I called ‘Getting your ducks in a row.’ It is still true today.
Duck one is knowing what search phrase your customers will type into a search engine to find your product(s) or service(s).
Duck two is ensuring that the individual web page titles and sub headings contain the search phrase relating to duck one.
Duck three is providing content on each page that uses the terminology from duck one. The more content you have the more opportunity you have to repeat the terms.
Duck four is adding images to your pages. Give the image file a name containing duck one’s search phrase.
Now you have your “ducks in a row” and your ranking or position on google will be determined by how well you have lined up your ducks and how well your competitors have lined up their ducks.
Benefits
- Increase in people viewing your website.
- Increase in enquiries and business.
- Winning business without the costs of cold calling and sales representatives.
- Increase in profits.
Experience
A website I have been working on in recent years for a Devon based small business now has 50% of its search phrases resulting in a listing on the first page of Google.
Also a beauty business “Brows by Anneka” specialising in microblading women’s eyebrows, can be found on the 1st page of Google when searching for “microblading in exeter.”
